
WT Sees Success in Consolation Rounds Sunday

FORT WORTH, Texas ÃÆ'Æ'à € ' ¢ÃƒÆ'Æ' ¢' ¬" Victories in consolation rounds highlighted day three of the ITA Texas Regional Presented by Oracle for the Baylor women's tennis team on Sunday.
Freshman Livia Kraus continued to have success, besting the No. 8 seed Michaela Haet of Rice, in a three set battle, 4-6, 6-4, 11-9. She advances to Monday action, challenging Matea Zemunik of Incarnate Word in the semifinal at 11:30 a.m.
Kraus also saw success in the consolation doubles bracket, as she and her teammate sophomore Jessica Hinojosa recorded a victory over Iulia Ivascu and Macarena Olivares of Texas A&M, 8-6, to reach the quarterfinal on Monday. The Baylor pair will meet Almudena Boza and Nanaka Takeuchi of UT-Arlington at 10 a.m.
After beginning the day with a two-set victory over No. 6 seed Donika Bashota of TCU, 6-2, 7-6(4) in the Round of 16, No. 16 seed Hinojosa saw her run in the main draw come to a close with a quarterfinal loss, 6-2, 6-2, to top seed Bianca Turati of Texas.
In the doubles main draw, sophomore Angelina Shakhraichuk and senior Theresa Van Zyl bowed out to the No. 1 seed pair from North Texas Maria Kononova and Tamuna Kutubidze. The match came down to the wire, 8-7(7).
