
EQ Drops Road Test at No. 3 Auburn

AUBURN, Ala. - No. 7 Baylor equestrian (1-3) suffered a 15-4 road loss at No. 3 Auburn on Saturday afternoon at the Auburn University Horse Center.
The Bears started off holding stride with the Tigers, coming out of fences trailing, 2-3. Gabby Conte and Shannon Hogue both secured their points for BU.
In horsemanship, the Bears fell, 1-4, with Kaylee Mellott's 73-71 point marking the lone score for BU in the discipline.
In flat, the Bears were held scoreless, with AU going 4-0 and BU forcing a tie on Michelle Mallett's 82-82 ride.
Closing the meet with reining, Carly Salter put the Bears on the board with a 65.5-64.5 point, with BU falling, 1-4, in the discipline to close out the 15-4 overall result.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Michelle Mallett's 82 tied for the third-highest score in the discipline for a BU flat rider in 2017.
- Shannon Hogue improved to 4-0 on the year for the Bears in fences, the only BU rider to stay perfect in all four meets.
STAT OF THE DAY
BU's fences squad has finished a point short in each of the last three meets, going 2-3 in all three road meets after taking a 5-0 win in the season opener vs. WTAMU.

Baylor finishes off its fall regular competition on Friday, Nov. 3, in Springtown, Texas, taking on TCU before returning to Waco for a hunt seat-only exhibition with Texas on Friday, Nov. 10, to close out the full fall schedule.
