WACO, Texas -- Baylor baseball notched an 18-1 win over Prairie View A&M to sweep a two-game set on Wednesday evening at Baylor Ballpark. The Bears (29-17) had 15 or more runs and 16 or more hits for the second straight game vs. the Panthers (18-35).
PVAMU had an early 1-0 lead in the first and held it until the third. The Bears used a two-out rally in the third that started with a Kameron Esthay walk, Matt Menard single and Aaron Dodson walk to load the bases. Then Davis Wendzel hit a two-run single and Josh Bissonette drove in another run with a single for a 3-1 lead.
It was all Baylor after that. Shea Langeliers had an RBI single in the fourth. In the fifth, Richard Cunningham hit a three-run double, Langeliers had an RBI double and Menard an RBI single.
In the seventh, Andy Thomas knocked an RBI triple, Esthay poked an RBI double, Dodson had an RBI single and Wendzel blasted a two-run home run.
BU capped the scoring in the eighth with an RBI double by Levi Gilcrease and two-run homer by Tucker Johnson.
BU starter Hayden Kettler (2-0) earned the win, giving up a run on five hits and one walk with three strikeouts in 4.1 innings. PVAMU starter Jordan Foster (1-1) took the loss, allowing seven runs on 10 hits and four walks with one strikeout in 4.1 innings.
