THE RUNDOWN
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – No. 10 Baylor soccer (16-4-0, 8-1-0 Big 12) rolled through its quarterfinal match of the Big 12 Soccer Championship, cruising to a 3-0 win over Iowa State (4-14-2, 2-6-1 Big 12) on Sunday afternoon at Swope Soccer Village.
 
The Bears await the winner of Texas Tech-TCU's quarterfinal match to determine its opponent in the Friday, Nov. 2, semifinals, back in Kansas City.
 
For Baylor, the scoring started in the 35th minute on the tail end of a tightly contested opening period.
 
Jackie Crowther worked up the far sideline, serving in a ball to Elena Reyna.
 
Reyna gathered the pass in the middle of the 18 and drilled home a left-footed kick that snuck inside the ride post for the goal, which would eventually stand as the game-winner.
 
The Bears got off to an aggressive start in the second period, adding to the scoreboard on a corner kick set piece in the 50th minute.
 
Crowther took the corner for the Bears, finding Julie James. James gathered the pass, turned and laced in the score, extending the BU lead to 2-0.
 
In the 65th, Taylor Moon drew a foul inside the 18, earning BU's first penalty kick of the season.
 
The freshman forward took the PK, poking her attempt into the upper right corner of the net, putting the match fully out of reach at a 3-0 finish.
