WACO, Texas – Team Green earned a 2-0 victory over Team Gold to begin the 2018 Green and Gold World Series, part of Baylor Baseball's annual five-game intersquad scrimmage.
Four Green pitchers combined to no-hit Gold over the seven innings of play. Sophomore lefty Tyler Thomas started on the mound and recorded six strikeouts in just 3.2 innings of work. Redshirt sophomore William Gilbert came on in relief before turning it over to junior Luke Boyd and senior Kyle Hill, who collected the save.
The offense was provided by senior second baseman Josh Bissonette, whose RBI double in the fourth inning scored freshman infielder Ricky Martinez. Sophomore shortstop Nick Loftin added some insurance with a solo blast in the bottom of the sixth to make it 2-0 Green.
