
Baseball Crushes Kansas State, 18-0

THE RUNDOWN
MANHATTAN, Kan. - Baylor baseball won an 18-0 game vs. Kansas State on Friday night at Tointon Family Stadium. The Bears (24-17, 7-9) used great hitting and pitching to take the series opener over the Wildcats (18-24, 3-13).
Baylor began the scoring show with a four-run second inning on a home run by Davion Downey, RBI single by Richard Cunningham and two-run double by Davis Wendzel. An inning later, BU put up five more on a T.J. Raguse RBI groundout, Nick Loftin three-run homer and Cunningham solo homer.
In the fifth, Raguse led off with a homer, Andy Thomas had an RBI fielder's choice and Downey roped a two-run double.
The Bears scored in each of the final three innings to close out the game. Shea Langeliers had an RBI single in the seventh, Josh Bissonette led off with a homer in the eighth, Wendzel had an RBI single and Langeliers a sacrifice fly, and Tucker Cascadden posted an RBI double in the ninth.
BU starter Cody Bradford (5-4) earned the win, allowing nine hits and one walk with eight strikeouts in nine shutout innings. KSU starter Justin Heskett (2-6) took the loss, giving up 11 runs (six earned) on 13 hits and two walks with two strikeouts in four innings.
NOTES
*Cody Bradford tied career highs with his fifth win and nine innings pitched for the second straight game and second straight shutout - Baylor's first player in program history to throw back-to-back complete game shutouts. He's the first BU player to pitch back-to-back complete games since Jason Jennings in 1999 (at Iowa State, May 14, 1999; vs. Missouri, May 19, 1999).
*Baylor set a program record for most hits in a Big 12 game (24), passing the 23-hit mark that was accomplished three times (last vs. Kansas State on May 18, 2017). BU's 24 hits were the most in a game since having 26 at Texas State on March 18, 2009.
*Baylor hit five home runs in a game for the first time since doing the same on May 22, 2010 vs. Oklahoma State.
*Baylor has won 10 of its last 11 games and eight straight.
*Baylor is 5-4 in three-game series this season (1-3 on road, 4-1 at home) and has a combined record of 14-12.
*Baylor has hit 121 home runs in 151 games under third-year head coach Steve Rodriguez. BU hit 51 in 2017 for its most homers since 2010 (57). BU has 36 in 2018.

*Davis Wendzel has reached base in a career-high 30 straight games, marking Baylor's longest since a 35-game streak in 2013 by Lawton Langford. He also has a 10-game hitting streak. He notched his team-high-tying 13th multi-hit game (2) and sixth multi-RBI game (3).
*Andy Thomas has a 12-game on-base streak and three-game hitting streak. He totaled his team-high-tying 13th multi-hit game (career-high-tying 3).
*T.J. Raguse has a 12-game on-base streak and five-game hitting streak. He tallied his fourth multi-hit game (3) and third multi-RBI game (2) while hitting his first home run of the season and third of his career.
*Freshman Nick Loftin has reached base in 11 straight games and three-game hitting streak. He had a career-high four hits for his 11th multi-hit game and had his sixth multi-RBI game (2) while hitting his fourth home run of the season.
*Richard Cunningham has a 10-game hitting streak. He registered his 11th multi-hit game (2) and seventh multi-RBI game (2) while hitting his career-high sixth home run of the season and 16th of his career.
*Freshman Davion Downey has reached base in seven straight games. He had a career-high five hits for the most hits in a game for Baylor since Matt Menard had five at TCU on April 22, 2017. He had his ninth multi-hit game and eighth multi-RBI game (3) while hitting his second home run.
*Shea Langeliers has reached base in six straight games and has a five-game hitting streak. He posted his team-high ninth multi-RBI game (2).
*Josh Bissonette hit his career-high fifth home run of the season and eighth of his career.
*Tucker Cascadden has reached base in three straight games.
