The Fairview, Texas, native is one of 23 collegiate student-athletes called back to train, overlapping with the U.S. U-20 WNT training camp also being held at the NTC and the teams will scrimmage twice, on Monday, May 14 at 7 p.m. PT in the Track & Field Stadium and on Thursday, May 17 at 4 p.m. PT on University Field 1.
"Julie continues to impress at the highest level," said Baylor head coach Paul Jobson. "It's awesome that the US National Team is getting the opportunity to experience what we are blessed with every day here at Baylor."
James was last with the U-23 WNT for three matches in early March against NWSL teams at the Thorns Spring Invitational in Portland, Ore., where it lost to the Houston Dash (2-1), tied the Thorns (2-2) and beat the Chicago Red Stars (1-0).
She is still the only student-athlete called from the Big 12 and is the only native Texan in the group.
A strong showing in 2017 secured the invitation for James, with the junior earning United Soccer Coaches All-Region Second Team, All-Big 12 First Team, and Scholar All-America Second Team.
She served as one of the three captains for the 2017 squad, helping lead BU to a Big 12 tournament title and the program's best-ever run in the NCAA postseason, advancing to the Elite 8 for the first time. In some of her best outings of the season, James was named to the Big 12 Soccer Championship All-Tournament team after shutting down three of the conference's top offenses.
