Track & Field Named USTFCCCA All-Academic Team

NEW ORLEANS – Baylor track & field earned All-Academic Team honors while 12 student-athletes received All-Academic individual honors, announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Thursday morning.
The women's team was honored after recording a 3.33 cumulative GPA while the men's squad logged a 3.11 GPA during the 2017-18 academic year.
On the women's side, eight members were honored in juniors Taylor Bennett, Leticia De Souza and Megan SaxvanderWeyden, sophomores Alison Andrews-Paul, Victoria Powell and Anna West, and freshmen Aaliyah Miller and Sydney Washington.
On the men's side, sophomore Ian Braxton along with freshmen Riley Richards, Jalen Seals and Devin Meyrer received recognition.
Including the Scholar-Athletes of the Year, a total of 1,498 Division I men and women earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors during the 2017-18 track & field season.
To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards:
For the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org.
For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
