
Baseball Earns ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award

The team boasted a GPA over 3.0 for the 2017-18 academic year.
WACO, Texas– The Baylor baseball program was one of 46 Division I baseball programs to earn the ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award for having a team GPA over 3.0, the organization announced today.
As a team the Bears boast an impressive 3.51 GPA for the entire 2017-18 academic year. The Bears have earned the prestigious team honor all three seasons under head coach Steve Rodriguez.
The Bears are led both on the field and off the field by rising junior pitcher Cody Bradford, who boasts an impressive 4.0 GPA as a management information systems major. Individually he earned CoSIDA All-Academic District 7 first team honors and was named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll and the Baylor Dean's List for the spring 2018 semester.
Richard Cunningham is also a standout for the Bears academically, earning Third Team 2018 CoSIDA Google Cloud Academic All-America honors with a 3.83 GPA in finance as an undergraduate, and a 3.89 GPA as a graduate student in business administration.
Bradford and rising senior Cole Weaver, a health, kinesiology and leisure studies major, represented baseball on the Baylor Dean's List, each earning a spring term GPA higher than 3.70.
25 baseball student-athletes, making up more than half of the squad, earned Big 12 Commissioners Honor Roll selections for having a GPA of 3.0 or higher during the spring semester.
Rounding out the academic accolades are Bradford, Cole Haring, Collin Sharp, Cole Weaver and Jimmy Winston, who all had personal best GPAs during the spring term.
