Bears fall on late second half goal by Razorbacks
THE RUNDOWN
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Baylor soccer (3-2-0) allowed a late second half go-ahead goal for Arkansas (3-1-1), falling 3-2 to UA on Friday evening at Razorback Field.
The Bears trailed 15-12 on shots in the match but carried a 10-6 advantage in shots on goal, drawing their first score in 9th minute of the match.
Julie James set up for a free kick off an Arkansas foul from 20 yards out, serving a ball into the Razorback box. Camryn Wendlandt cut through the UA defense and sliced in a shot for the opening goal of the match, giving BU the 1-0 advantage.
Arkansas responded with a score in the 20th minute, finally taking advantage of a set piece opportunity after four corner kicks over a four-minute stretch to draw back to even at 1-1.
The Bears responded just two minutes later, with Raegan Padgett beating the Arkansas backline into the box and lasering home the go-ahead goal into the back-left corner of the net to push BU up 2-1.
The Razorbacks snuck in an equalizer goal in the 45th minute, just 14 seconds before the half whistle, making it a 2-2 game at half.
Moving into the second half, the Razorbacks gained their first lead of the match with a 58th minute goal, standing as the game-winner with the Bears unable to find an equalizer to keep the match alive.
