Cross Country Announces 2018 Meet Schedule
8/7/2018 11:21:00 AM | Cross Country
WACO, Texas - Baylor cross country announced its eight-meet schedule for the 2018 season Tuesday.
"Our team is excited about the schedule we have put together and believe it will give us the preparation we need to be ready at the end of the season," assistant head coach Jon Capron said. "We will race on some really great courses against some really good teams. You have to be able to do that if you want to be ready in November. We are excited about those opportunities."
For the 16th-straight year, the Bears will open the season at home with the Bear Twilight Invitational on Friday, Aug. 31 at the HOT Soccer Complex. One week later, Baylor will head to the Gerald Richey UTA Invitational on Friday, Sept. 7, in Grand Prairie, Texas, hosted by UT Arlington.
Both teams will then head north on Friday, Sept. 28 to participate in the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind.
The Bears will run in different locations on the same weekend for the only time in 2018 on Oct. 13 at the Arturo Barrios Invitational in College Station, Texas., and others at the Pre-National Invitational in Madison, Wis., the same day.
BU will have another open weekend, before heading north to face the league at the Big 12 Championship Oct. 26 in Ames, Iowa.
In postseason action, Baylor will then travel to College Station for the NCAA South Central Region Championships on Nov. 9. It will be the fifth time in the last 10 years and the sixth time in the last 15 seasons that the Bears will not host the event.
The NCAA Cross Country Championships take place Nov.17 in Madison, Wis.
