Lady Bears home for 23 games at Getterman
WACO, Texas – Baylor softball released its full slate for the 2020 season, including 23 home games at Getterman Stadium, announced Friday afternoon by 20th-year head coach Glenn Moore. The Lady Bears will play four teams that advanced to the 2019 Women's College World Series.
"Last year's strength of schedule ranked No. 2 in the nation, and this year's should rival it," Moore said. "With great leadership and experience, this schedule will challenge us but more importantly will bring out the best in this team."
BU opens the 2020 season in Clearwater, Fla. at the NFCA DI Leadoff Classic Feb. 7-9. The Lady Bears will face Auburn, Louisville, Missouri, Missouri State and the U.S. National Team in the tournament at the Eddie C. Moore Complex.
Baylor then returns to Waco for its home opener against ACU on Feb. 11. That begins a streak of 11-straight games at Getterman Stadium in the month of February. The Lady Bears host the Getterman Classic on Feb. 14-16 with Grand Canyon, Western Illinois and Prairie View A&M coming to town. A week later (Feb. 21-23), Tulsa, Illinois, Texas State and Minnesota arrive in Waco for the Baylor Invitational.
Between the pair of home tournaments, Baylor is slated to face UTA on Feb. 19 at Getterman Stadium. The home stand wraps up on Feb. 25 against Louisiana Tech.
BU then heads to Fayetteville, Ark. for the Woo Pig Classic where Baylor joins the field of Arkansas, Florida State and Kent State.
The Lady Bears keep their show on the road for the next couple of weeks with seven-consecutive road games to begin the month of March. On March 4, Baylor travels to Nacogdoches, Texas to take on Stephen F. Austin before heading to Houston for a doubleheader against the Cougars on March 10.
BU flies back to Florida for the second time of the 2020 season for a three-game series in Gainesville against the Florida Gators March 13-15. Baylor returns to Texas for a contest at UTSA on March 18.
The Lady Bears' first game back at Getterman Stadium in nearly a month also kicks off Big 12 play as Baylor hosts Kansas March 20-22. BU then has a midweek showdown against Houston Baptist on March 25 before traveling to Stillwater to take on Oklahoma State on March 27-29.
BU makes the trip to San Marcos to play Texas State for the second time of the season on April 1 before hosting Oklahoma April 3-5. Baylor then goes to UTA on April 7 before its weekend series at Texas Tech April 9-11.
