Campos has spent the last four seasons with Aland United
WACO, Texas – Former Baylor soccer standout Bri Campos has signed to play in Umeå IK for the 2020 season, one of the top teams in Sweden. Campos most recently played for Aland United where she was team captain and led the team as an outside back.
According to Umeå IK's official website, Campos visited the team last fall.
"The vision that (head coach) Robert (Bergström) and the association have for the future is something that really appeals to me," Campos said in a statement. "There are skilled and professional girls in the team, and I got a good response when I visited the club last fall. In the end, it was a simple decision. The club's values and way of playing fit me very well in how I am as a player and person. Umeå IK is a well-known club with a proud history, and I want to be a part of it."
She signed with Aland United, a team in the Finish Naisten Liiga, in Feb. 2016, becoming in the second player to sign a professional soccer deal in Europe since coaches Paul and Marci Jobson arrived at Baylor in 2008 (Carlie Davis, Herforder SV Borussia Friedensta in 2015).
Campos played four seasons for Aland United and recorded 13 goals.
During her time at Baylor, Campos started in 81 of 83 games and scored 19 goals with 13 assists. As a freshman, the Centennial, Colo., native was part of the 2012 Big 12 Soccer Championship title team for BU and was a member of the Big 12 All-Newcomer Team. During her sophomore year, she was named to the All-Big 12 first team, becoming the first Baylor player since 2006 and eighth overall to do so. Her outstanding performances with the Bears earned her several stints with the Women's Mexican National Team.
