
WT’s Kraus Concludes Bears’ Fall Season at ITA National Fall Championships

Junior finishes 0-2 in Newport Beach
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – Baylor's Livia Kraus concluded the Bears' fall season at the ITA National Fall Championships Thursday.
Kraus fell Wednesday in the main draw to UCLA's Abigail Forbes, 6-0, 6-0. Forbes was ranked the No. 4 Newcomer/Freshman by the ITA in September, and her win over Kraus improved her to 10-1 on the season and 5-1 vs. ranked players. Kraus is the No. 39-ranked player in the ITA.
In the consolation bracket, Kraus fell to Yale's Samantha Martinelli, 6-3, 6-3.
Baylor finished the fall season at 32-27 on the singles court and 6-9 in doubles. Sophomore transfer Anastasia Kharitonova and junior Kris Sorokolet tied for the team lead with 7-4 records apiece on the singles court. Angie Shakhraichuck posted a 5-2 record, Paula Barañano had a 6-5 record and Jessica Hinojosa finished with a 4-3 record in the fall.
The Bears' roster will increase from seven to nine beginning in January. The team's official season begins Jan. 17 vs. Georgia State and Baylor will have juniors Mel Krywoj and Alicia Herrero Linana after the pair came to campus in January and have been serving a year in residence.
