Bears improved by 19 shots from first to second round
THE RUNDOWN
WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. – Baylor men's golf is in sixth place after shooting 7-over-par 567 across two rounds at the Big 12 Championship on Saturday. The Bears carded 13-over 293 in the first round and improved by 19 strokes to 6-under 274 in the second round at The Greenbrier's Old White TPC.
Baylor (+7) is one shot back of the top-5 entering Sunday's final round. The Bears trail Oklahoma State (-14), TCU (-6), Oklahoma (-2), Texas (-2) and Texas Tech (+6). BU leads Iowa State (+9), Kansas State (+13), West Virginia (+15) and Kansas (+17).
Garrett May leads the team and is tied for eighth overall at 1-under 139. He shot 3-over 73 in the first round, then made five birdies over his first eight holes in the second round on his way to recording a 4-under 66. Colin Kober is tied for 18th individually at 1-over 141 after rounds of 1-over 71 and even-par 70. He made a tournament-high 29 pars across 36 holes, including a streak of 10-straight pars to end the day.
Cooper Dossey shot 3-over 73 and even-par 70 to tie for 25th place at 3-over 143, while Braden Bailey trimmed 11 strokes off his score from a 9-over 79 first round to a 2-under 68 second round, which has him tied for 37th place at 7-over 147. Ryan Grider is in 48th place at 12-over 152 after consecutive rounds of 6-over 76.

- Bailey had the biggest improvement from 79 to 68, while May improved from 73 to 66, Dossey improved from 73 to 70 and Kober improved from 71 to 70.
- Baylor is tied for second in the field in par-5 scoring at 7-under 4.65, tied for eighth in par-4 scoring at 19-over 4.16 and eighth in par-3 scoring at 10-over 3.25.
- The Bears' 28 birdies are fifth-most in the field, and BU is tied for seventh with 109 pars.
- May is tied for second in par-4 scoring at 3-under 3.88 and in par-5 scoring at 3-under 4.25.
- Bailey is tied for fourth in par-3 scoring at 1-under 2.88.
- Kober is tied for fifth in par-5 scoring at 2-under 4.50 and tied for 11th in par-3 scoring at even-par 3.00.
- Kober is tied for the tournament lead with 29 pars, while May ranks third in the field with nine birdies.
