New video board to be installed before home opener
WACO, Texas – After the recent installation of artificial turf and LED fixtures in the stadium lights in a partnership with Geo-Surfaces and Geo-Sport Lighting, Baylor softball will introduce a new video board at the start of the 2020 home season.
"Getterman Stadium is considered one of the top softball facilities in the country," head coach Glenn Moore said. "With the addition of a new state-of-the-art video board, we are keeping it that way. This will certainly enhance the already great fan experience we have on campus."
The old video board hasn't been updated in more than a decade. In 2003, Getterman Stadium became the nation's first collegiate softball facility to sport a video board.
Daktronics, who has done every video board on campus with the exception of the one inside the Ferrell Center, will do the renovations as the old scoreboard will be replaced with LED panels. It measures 48 feet by 12 feet. The brick columns on either side of the board will remain in keeping with Baylor's beautiful campus.
Above the video board will be some metal work with lighted letters that read Getterman Stadium, similar to McLane Stadium.
Demolition will begin on Monday. The new display will be installed beginning on Thursday, Feb. 6. The estimated completion date is Monday, Feb. 10, just in time for Baylor's home opener vs. Abilene Christian on Tuesday, Feb. 11.
Single-game and season tickets are available on BaylorBears.com/tickets or by calling 254-710-1000.
