THE RUNDOWN
FORT WORTH, Texas – Baylor men's tennis began its 2020 fall season with three victories across a pair of doubles matches and four singles matches at the TCU Invitational in Fort Worth on Friday.
Graduate transfer Charlie Broom highlighted the day's results for BU, claiming wins in both of his matches. Broom teamed up with fellow graduate transfer Nick Stachowiak for the Bears' first victory of the fall in doubles, defeating Texas' pairing of Harper/Huang 8-6.
In the morning's other doubles action, Finn Bass and Sebastian Nothhaft narrowly fell to UT's Allen/Talluri duo 8-7 (7-5).
All four of the Bears competed individually in singles, with Broom and Bass collecting wins over student-athletes from Oklahoma. Broom defeated Alex Martinez 6-1, 5-7, 6-2, while Bass took care of Jonathan Sheehy in straight sets 6-1, 6-3.
Nothhaft and Stachowiak will look to rebound after falling in their weekend-opening singles contests. Nothhaft pushed OU's Welsh Hotard in three sets 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 6-3, and Stachowiak came up short against the Sooners' Nathan Han 6-4, 6-1.
