Bears add one for 2021-22 season
WACO, Texas – Baylor head women's tennis coach Joey Scrivano announced the signing of Olivia Malm from Sweden Thursday as the Bears' lone signee for the 2021 recruiting class.
Malm hails from Orebro, Sweden and attends Korrespondensgymnasiet school while competing on the ITF Junior Circuit.
In 2020, she's taken two tournament wins, both coming at the Swedish Championship U18 where she took home wins in singles and doubles. Her ITF ranking is currently No. 1,073 with a career-high of 1,025 in March of 2020.
"Olivia is an athletic, explosive player and loves the sport of tennis. Her character and intangibles are impressive. She has a ton of junior tennis experience, having won national events in her home country of Sweden," said Scrivano. "There is always a leaving curve when you compete at this level, but her athleticism will serve her well as she adjusts to competing at the collegiate level. We're excited to have her join our team and be a part of the Baylor family."
Malm represented Sweden in the European Youth Olympics in 2017 and was also selected for senior national camps with the Swedish Federation.
She will be the second of her family to play college tennis in the United States. Her brother, William, played four years of collegiate tennis from 2015-2019 at Cleveland State University.
