Freshman Johnny Keefer tied for individual lead heading to final round

LOS CABOS, Mexico – Baylor men's golf is tied for sixth place after shooting 1-under-par 283 in Monday's second round of the Cabo Collegiate at Cabo Del Sol Ocean Golf Course. The Bears sit at 7-under 561 heading to Tuesday's final round, eight shots back of the lead.

The No. 13-ranked Bears (-7) trail No. 14 Arizona (-15), No. 20 Vanderbilt (-12), No. 9 Arizona State (-10), No. 47 Florida State (-9) and No. 35 Stanford (-9). BU is tied with No. 25 Oklahoma State (-7) and leads No. 6 Texas A&M (-6), No. 42 Alabama (-5), No. 50 Arkansas (-3), No. 32 Ole Miss (+8), No. 29 California (+8), No. 39 Houston (+12), Rice (+14) and No. 30 LSU (+18).

Freshman Johnny Keefer is tied for the individual lead in the 80-player field after shooting 4-under 67 with four birdies and 14 pars on Monday. He's at 7-under 135 through two rounds, in a three-way tie for first place.

Cooper Dossey turned in the Bears' second-best round of the day at 1-under 70 to move into a tie for 11^th place at 4-under 138. Colin Kober carded 1-over 72, Mark Reppe posted the Bears' final counting score at 3-over 74, and Ryan Grider recorded 4-over 75. Grider is tied for 50^th place at 3-over 145, Reppe is tied for 57^th at 4-over 146 and Kober is tied for 59^th place at 4-over

HIGHLIGHTS

Baylor ranks fourth in the 15-team field in par-5 scoring at 15-under 4.63, fifth in par-4 scoring at 5-over 4.06 and 12^th in par-3 scoring at 12-over 3.24.
Baylor's 115 pars are third-most in the field, and BU is tied for 10^th with 33 birdies.
Dossey is tied for second in the 80-player field in par-5 scoring at 6-under 4.25, while Grider and Keefer are tied for 11^th at 4-under 4.50.
Keefer is tied for the tournament lead in par-4 scoring at 4-under 3.78.
Keefer ranks third with 27 pars across 36 holes, while Reppe is tied for fifth with 26 pars.
Dossey is tied for fifth in the field with 11 birdies across 36 holes.

STAT OF THE DAY
6-under – Baylor players combined to shoot 6-under without a bogey across the first five holes, combining for six birdies and 19 pars.
