Bears add SEC transfer to bolster roster
WACO, Texas – Isabella Harvison, a 19-match singles winner for the Alabama Crimson Tide, signed with Baylor Thursday after entering the transfer portal following the fall season. Harvison, a sophomore from Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Calif., will arrive on campus this soon and will not be immediately eligible.
Harvison went through her freshman year with the Crimson Tide, tallying a 16-7 mark on the singles court and 14-4 in doubles. She paired up with teammate Moka Ito to go 13-3 for the year and 9-2 in dual-match play for the spring. The duo paired up to rank No. 49 nationally in the ITA Doubles Rankings in March. She played primarily at the No. 2 spot in singles, collecting a 9-4 record.
In the fall, Harvison went 3-2 in singles and 1-3 in doubles. She proved her dedication in the classroom as well at Alabama with a 2020 SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll nod in addition to being named a 2020 ITA Scholar-Athlete.
"We are very excited to have Isabella join the Baylor family. She is a determined and mature young lady," said Baylor head coach Joey Scrivano. "She is a coach's dream, is committed to the process, possesses strong intangibles, and has a very high ceiling. She is a great fit for our program, and she has a very bright future."
Harvison attended AESA Prep International online high school while living in Barcelona, Spain. She moved away from the U.S. prior to high school and was active in the Southern California junior circuits before leaving. She was ranked in the 30s and as high as No. 31 in the Spanish open ranking system for juniors.
Baylor kicks off its fall season Jan. 16 vs. Prairie View A&M at 3:30 p.m.
