WACO, Texas – Baylor women's tennis inked Daniella Dimitrov for the 2022-23 season, head coach Joey Scrivano announced on Wednesday.
"We are very excited to have Daniella join the Baylor Family," Scrivano said. "She is a determined and mature young lady. Dani is an exceptional athlete. She is committed to the process, a strong-minded competitor and has a very high ceiling. She's a great fit for our program and has a very bright future at Baylor."
A Louisville, Ky., native, Dimitrov started playing tennis at the age of six. Two years later, she began training at the Houston Tennis Academy in Texas before becoming a full-time player at International Tennis USA in Scottsdale, Ariz. Since 2012, Dimitrov has trained as a full-time player at the Barcelona Tennis Academy in Spain.
Her career-high ITF World Junior Ranking is 68 (Dec. 2018). Dimitrov reached the No. 1 ranking in Bulgaria in 2014. She was invited to represent the Bulgarian National Team in the European Summer Cups in 2014 and 2015.
During her junior career, Dimitrov qualified and competed in all four Grand Slams – Australian Open, Roland Garros, Wimbledon and the US Open.
