Senior Jumping Seat athlete named Fences, Co-Flat Rider of the Month
IRVING, Texas – Baylor equestrian senior Caroline Fuller has garnered Big 12 Rider of the Month honors for September and October's combined awards, as announced Wednesday afternoon by the conference office.
Fuller was named the Co-Flat Rider of the Month and earned the Fences honor outright, making her the first Bear in program history to earn two conference awards in the same month.
The native of Denver, N.C., is a perfect 3-0 in both Jumping Seat events so far this season, averaging an 85 in Fences and an 83 in Flat. She picked up one Most Outstanding Performer honor in BU's Sept. 24 win at No. 10 UT Martin, scoring a meet-high 84 in Fences on a horse Baylor had never drawn before. Through the first three meets this season, Fuller has racked up three of the Bears' top-six scores in Fences and two of the top-six scores in Flat.
The conference honor adds to Fuller's already strong start to her senior campaign, as she was previously named the NCEA's Rider of the Month for September. With this award, Fuller becomes the 10th different Bear to garner Big 12 Fences Rider of the Month recognition for a total of 19 times. She is also the fifth different Bear to receive Big 12 Flat Rider of the Month honors for a total of 10 times. Baylor has now had a Jumping Seat Big 12 Rider of the Month in each of the last five seasons.
Next up, the Bears (2-1) travel to No. 6 TCU (3-4) on Friday, Nov. 5, for a 10 a.m. meet at Diamond Creek Ranch in Burleson, Texas.
