Bears named Fences, Horsemanship conference Riders of the Month
IRVING, Texas – Baylor equestrian's Caroline Fuller and Marley Mainwaring have been named Big 12 Riders of the Month for November, as announced Tuesday by the conference office.
Fuller, a Jumping Seat senior, earns her second Big 12 Fences honor of the season after another undefeated month. Mainwaring, a Western senior, picks up her first-career monthly award in Horsemanship following a 3-0 month.
Fuller rounded out a dominant fall season with three more wins in Fences, earning points against No. 9 TCU, No. 2 Auburn and No. 6 Fresno State. She added one Most Outstanding Performer award from Baylor's victory at TCU with an 80-79 win over Sydney Berube. Fuller also led the Bears to a pair of Fences event wins against the Horned Frogs and the Bulldogs, which helped BU improve to 4-2 on the 2021-22 season and reach No. 4 in the NCEA's final dual discipline rankings of the fall.
This is the second-consecutive Big 12 monthly award for Fuller, having previously earned the combined honor for September and October. She has also won two NCEA Fences Rider of the Month awards (Sept., Nov.) as well as being named the conference's Co-Flat Rider of the Month in Sept./Oct.
Mainwaring averaged a whopping 74.67 across her three Horsemanship rides in November, including a career-high 75.5 at TCU that earned her MOP recognition. She scored a 74.5 against Auburn and a 74 vs. Fresno State, helping the BU Horsemanship squad to a 3-2 event win. Her three wins in November alone are a single-season most, having never totaled more than two wins in any of her previous seasons. Mainwaring currently sits 4-2 on the 2021-22 campaign.
With this award, Mainwaring becomes just the sixth Bear all-time to be named Big 12 Horsemanship Rider of the Month.
Baylor returns to the arena on Saturday, Jan. 29, at No. 2 Texas A&M, with first ride scheduled for 11 a.m. CT.
