Men’s Golf Places Seventh at Border Olympics

Grider records third-straight top-10 finish

LAREDO, Texas – Baylor men's golf finished in seventh place with a 54-hole total of 25-over-par 889 at the Border Olympics. The Bears moved up one spot on the leaderboard with Tuesday's final round of 3-over 291 at Laredo Country Club.
BU finished ahead of 11 teams in the 18-team field, recording victories over Illinois State (+29), Kent State (+33), New Mexico State (+36), Abilene Christian (+38), Michigan (+39), Louisiana-Lafayette (+40), Rice (+50), Lamar (+61), Eastern Michigan (+61), Bowling Green (+71) and Houston Baptist (+75). The Bears placed behind Texas A&M (-2), Texas (+6), Houston (+9), Sam Houston State (+21), Louisiana-Monroe (+23) and UTSA (+24).
Ryan Grider led the way for Baylor, earning his third-consecutive top-10 finish with a tie for ninth place at even-par 216. He carded a final round of 2-under 70, including three-straight birdies on the back-9. Colin Kober shot even-par 72 in the final round to tie for 29th place at 9-over 225. Brandon Hoff recorded a 1-over 73 in the final round and finished tied for 19th place, and Johnny Keefer recorded the final counting score at 4-over 76 and finished tied for 49th place at 12-over 228. Tyler Isenhart tied for 63rd place at 15-over 231.
The Bears finished third in the field with 166 pars and tied for fourth in par-5 scoring at 9-under 4.85. Kober tied for fourth place in the field in par-5 scoring at 6-under 4.50, while Grider tied for sixth in par-4 scoring at 1-over 4.03.
STAT OF THE DAY
3 – Ryan Grider earned his third-consecutive top-10 finish by placing tied for ninth place. He previously tied for ninth place at the Maridoe Collegiate Invitational and won medalist honors at the Rice Intercollegiate.

Baylor next competes at the Cabo Collegiate on March 1-3, which has been moved to TPC San Antonio this season.
