Bears return home to Waco for Senior Day, regular-season finale vs OSU
THE RUNDOWN
DALLAS – No. 9 Baylor equestrian came up short in Dallas on Saturday, falling in a 12-8 contest to No. 4 SMU at the Dallas Equestrian Center.
BU (1-5) dropped both first-half events with a 4-1 decision in Fences and a narrow 3-2 defeat in Horsemanship. Rachael Davis rode to a 79 in Fences, though she was edged by SMU's Olivia Woodson who put down an 81 for MOP honors. Kacie Scharf led BU with a 76 in Horsemanship, winning her point with her second-highest score of the season.
Following the halftime break, Baylor bounced back with a 3-2 event win in the Flat. Davis scored an 84, remaining undefeated in the event with her sixth win of the 2021 campaign. The senior from Woodinville, Wash., also picked up BU's only MOP honors for her performance, her third of the season.
Heading into the day's final event trailing by three points, Baylor was edged by the Mustangs 3-2 in Reining. Daisy Kaufman and Jenna Meimerstorf were the two point winners for the Bears with scores of 70.5 and 71, respectively.
BU will close out its regular season with its Senior Day meet against No. 3 Oklahoma State on Sunday at the Willis Family Equestrian Center. First ride is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT.
