Bears outshoot Tigers, 6-2, in second half
THE RUNDOWN
WACO, Texas – The Bears were back on the Brazos Thursday night as Baylor resumed its 2020 season with a 1-0 loss to LSU, marking their first game back in 132 days.
The Bears came out strong in the first 15 minutes with a pair of corner kicks and a shot on goal by Ally Henderson. However, LSU struck first with a goal in the 27th minute by Shannon Cooke from just outside the box.
That was it for the Tigers, though, as Baylor locked things down the rest of the night. After getting outshot, 8-4 in the opening period, the Bears came out more aggressive in the second half with six shots to LSU's two. Perhaps BU's best look of the night came in the 90th minute when Chloe Japic lined up a free kick just outside the box and laced in a shot that went just high of the crossbar.
On the night, Baylor and LSU tied for 10 shots each.
HIGHLIGHTS
132 – Number of days since Baylor's last game of the 2020-21 season against Oklahoma on Nov. 6, 2020.
TOP QUOTES
Paul Jobson on the game…
"One great accomplishment was that we finally got to get on the field and play a soccer game. It's amazing how quickly you move past that to the next thing. It was great to be back out there. Obviously, the girls were jacked to play. You can really see that throughout the match for sure, but definitely in those first 15 to 20 minutes."
