WACO, Texas – Baylor softball dropped its series opener to Houston, 3-1, Saturday afternoon at Getterman Stadium.
Houston jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, but the Lady Bears got one of the runs back an inning later.
Goose McGlaun led off the frame with a single up the middle, and Zadie LaValley followed with a single of her own to right center field. With runners on the corners and no outs, Josie Bower hit a groundout to first base that allowed McGlaun to come home.
After giving up the two-spot in the opening frame, Gia Rodoni found a groove in the circle and went to work. The senior right-hander finished the day with 10 strikeouts as she gave up three runs off five hits in her third complete game of the season.

- Gia Rodoni recorded her the 12th double-digit strikeout game of her career. Her last one came at Houston on March 10, 2020, when she fanned 11 in a near-perfect outing.
- Zadie LaValley continued her hot hitting as she led the Lady Bears with a 2-for-3 showing at the plate with a pair of singles. It marked the freshman's third multi-hit game of her career.
- With her single, Goose McGlaun has a hit in three-straight games.
