Baylor exploded offensively in the second inning after fifth-year senior Andy Thomas led the frame off with a single, while second-year freshman Cade Currington crushed a two-run homer to left field to give BU the 2-0 advantage. The Bears followed up with three straight hits, including second-year freshman Kyle Nevin roping an RBI-double to right center to push it to 3-0. In the next at-bat, first baseman Chase Wehsener lofted an RBI-single to make it 4-0.
Later in the inning, second-year freshman Tre Richardson slapped a single to center to bring home newcomer Jack Pineda who walked earlier in the frame. A bases loaded walk from Currington capped the inning with Baylor leading 6-0.
Texas Tech scratched across a run in the bottom of the second, but BU quickly responded as Wehsener smacked a solo homer to left center to make it 7-1. The Red Raiders added another run in the fourth to trim it back to a five-run game.
In the seventh, fourth-year junior Davion Downey got in on the action with his fifth home run of the season, giving the Bears an 8-2 lead. After Tech answered with a run in the home-half, Baylor put the game away in the eighth. Wehsener started the scoring off with a leadoff double, while Pineda brought him home with a home run to push the score to 10-3. A few batters later, Andy Thomas used a double to keep his 13-game RBI streak alive and make it 11-3 in favor of BU.
Each team scored a run in the ninth as Baylor took the Friday night victory, 12-4.
Baylor starter Tyler Thomas (5-2) was solid on the mound for BU after throwing six innings while allowing two runs on four hits and two walks and striking out seven. Texas Tech starter Patrick Monteverde (6-2) was tabbed with his second loss of the season.

QUOTE FROM COACH ROD
"Anytime you can come out and score six runs in one inning off a Texas Tech starter, especially on a Friday night is big. You have to give a lot of credit to our guys, they went out there with a great approach and saw some pitches that were elevated and were able to put some pretty good swings together. The biggest thing was that we were executing and we just continued to put the ball in play and the next thing you know, we have six runs up on the board."
