Kraus, Shakhraichuk earn first-team honors, eligible for Academic All-American
WACO, Texas – Former Baylor women's tennis standouts Livia Kraus and Angelina Shakhraichuk were each named to the 2020-21 Academic All-District At-Large Teams as first-team selections, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced Thursday.
Each player will be eligible for Academic All-America status as a result of their first-team selection from District 7. The first team consisted of 16 student-athletes representing fencing, beach volleyball, golf, swimming, rifle, gymnastics and tennis.
The Academic All-District teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom.
Shakhraichuk played five seasons with Baylor and finished with a cumulative GPA of 3.57 and a degree in Health, Kinesiology & Leisure Studies. She capped her collegiate career with an All-Big 12 First-Team selection in doubles. She finished her career at 80-42 on the singles court. In 2021, she went 20-6 in the spring on the doubles court and 18-7 in singles.
Kraus graduated with a degree in Exercise Physiology and carried a GPA of 3.96. She finished 2021 with a 15-1 record in the spring in singles and posted an 8-5 mark in doubles. She was an Academic All-Big 12 selection in five seasons at Baylor and was a second-team All-Big 12 honoree on the singles court in 2019.
The CoSIDA Academic All-America teams in the at-large division will be released in early August. Baylor women's tennis has produced five Academic All-Americans in its history with Blair Shankle as the Bears' last honoree in 2017 as a third-team selection.
