
WT Displays Strong Doubles Play at Day One of H-E-B Invitational

Trio of freshmen made their Baylor debuts

WACO, Texas – Baylor fans got a look at three new doubles tandems as the Bears picked up a pair of doubles wins during the first day of the H-E-B Invitational.
Mel Krywoj and Isabella Harvison made quick work of their Arizona opponents on court No. 1, winning 6-2. Krywoj and Harvison were both ranked in the top 50 in the ITA Preseason Singles Rankings at No. 37 and No. 48 respectively.
Paula Baranano and Olivia Malm fought their way to a tiebreaker win. After trailing 6-5, the duo clinched the next game to tie things up at 6. Once the tiebreaker began, the Baylor duo was in control as Baranano and Malm edged the Wildcats, 7-3.
The freshmen pair of Ana Carmen Zamburek and Brooke Thompson dropped their doubles match, 6-1.
Later in the day, Malm returned for singles action against Arizona's Kirsten Prelle but fell, 6-1, 6-4.
