WACO, Texas – Baylor track and field released its 2023 indoor and outdoor schedule on Monday afternoon. The squad looks to the new season after a historic 2022 outdoor run that saw a program-record 20 entries qualify for the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore.
"I am super excited for the 2023 indoor and outdoor season," said head coach Michael Ford. "The staff and I are looking forward to the teams competing this year. We changed the schedule a little to see some different competition, adding Clemson, Arkansas and New Mexico to the indoor season and Florida in the outdoor. The schedule this year will prepare the teams for the Big 12 Championships, NCAA prelims and both National Championships."
The indoor season opens with a trip to Lubbock, Texas, for the Corky Classic Jan. 14-15 at the Sports Performance Center at Texas Tech. One week later, the Bears take a trip to Albuquerque, N.M., for the Dr. Martin Luther King Invitational for a preview of the NCAA Indoor Championship track.
The back half of the indoor regular season holds trips to Fayetteville, Ark., for the Razorback Invitational Jan. 27-28, and Clemson, S.C., for the Tiger Paw Invitational, Feb. 10-11.
Postseason begins with the Big 12 Indoor Championships at the Sports Performance Center in Lubbock, Feb. 24-25. Two weeks later and after qualifiers are determined, the squad returns to Albuquerque for the NCAA Indoor National Championships, held at the Albuquerque Convention Center, March 10-11.
The Clyde Hart Classic, formerly known as the Baylor Invitational, opens the outdoor season for the Bears at the Clyde Hart Track and Field Stadium Mar. 24-25. Track and Field's yearly pilgrimage to Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin commences for Baylor, March 29-April 1 in the 95th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, hosted by the University of Texas.
After a two-week break, the Bears fly to Gainesville, Fla. to compete at the Tom Jones Invitational April 14-15 before returning back to the Clyde Hart Stadium for the Michael Johnson Invitational on April 21-22. In its last meet of the regular season, the team turns to Bernie Moore Stadium in Baton Rouge, La. for the LSU Invitational on April 29.
The Oklahoma Sooners host the Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships on May 13-15, where Baylor's seven 2022 conference champions look to defend their titles.
