WT Hosts H-E-B Invite

WACO, Texas -- Baylor women's tennis will continue a productive fall schedule and will host its first tournament of the season, the H-E-B Invite, set for Friday-Saturday-Sunday at the Hurd Tennis Center.

The H-E-B Invite will open on Friday and Saturday with doubles starting at 9 a.m. at the Hurd Tennis Center, with singles to follow. Play will resume at 1 p.m. with doubles and singles following. Sunday will conclude the event at 9 a.m.

"Competition is always a good indicator of where your athletes character and attitude stands," Baylor head coach Joey Scrivano said. "I know the ladies are excited to be competing again and it's always extra special to play at Hurd."

Baylor will have several standouts competing in the event, including Paula Barañano, Isabella Harvison, Liubov Kostenko and Brooke Thompson. Doubles pairs will include Barañano and Harvison, and Kostenko and Thompson.

In the ITA Texas Regionals in Fort Worth to end September, the Bears saw Kostenko and Thompson go 3-1 in doubles and Barañano and Danielle Dimitrov earn a doubles win in the main draw.

Barañano led Baylor in singles with a 3-1 record in the ITA Texas Regionals, with Kostenko earning a pair of wins and Brooke Thompson adding a singles win.

The event will include 22 players from five teams, featuring student-athletes from Tennessee, Texas, Texas Tech and Rice.
