THE RUNDOWN
HONOLULU, Hawaii – Baylor softball fell 12-3 to No.1 Oklahoma Thursday afternoon at the Rainbow Wahine Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii

Dariana Orme started in the circle for the Bears and shut down the sooners in the first inning, striking out the first batter before a single up the middle got a Sooner on. A diving catch from Sydney Collazos, followed by a line out back to Orme in the circle, ended the inning.

After the Bears went three-up, three-down to close out the first, timely hits and an error plated eight runs for Oklahoma in the top of the second. Two groundouts ended the inning for the Sooners, and the Bears were retired to end the second.

With Aliyah Binford in the circle, a groundout followed by a walk got a Sooner on, but a 6-3 double play executed by shortstop Campbell Selman erased the runner and ended the top half of the third.

The Bears, who have been hitting well with two outs, proved that again in the third inning. Ana Watson had a one-out double and scored from third on Taylor Strain's infield single. Sophomore Emily Hott tripled down the left-field line to score Strain and then came home on a wild pitch to complete the three-run inning, cutting OU's lead to 8-3.

Oklahoma plated four more tuns in the fourth and fifth innings, extending their lead to 12-3 and securing the win.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Emily Hott recorded her first triple of the season
  • The Bears' three runs against the Sooners are the third-most they have given up all season
  • Three Bears recorded hits in the game

TOP QUOTES
Glenn Moore on the game…
"Seeing the positives may be difficult after a loss like that and I'm not into moral victories but we did move the ball better than most other teams have off of them today. We will measure the value of the loss tomorrow against Cal. It's another good opportunity for growth."
