Fifth-year senior recorded three wins at TCU Invitational
WACO, Texas – Baylor's Caira Pettway was named Big 12 Track & Field Women's Athlete of the Week after a stellar outdoor opening meet at TCU, the conference announced Wednesday.
A native of Sunnyvale, Texas, Pettway is the third Bear to win a weekly conference honor this season, and she does so after a three-win meet at the TCU Invitational last weekend.
Pettway ran the leadoff leg on the 4x100 relay, with Arria Minor, Sydney Washington and Michaela Francois, that recorded a 44.43-second race to open up the outdoor relays for the Bears.
In the long jump, Pettway's new personal-best of 20-10 ½ gave her a gold medal in the event and the No. 5 all-time spot at Baylor. Another PR was set in the 100-meter dash, as her 11.37-second race marks the No. 9 fastest from any Bear.
