Conference tournament shortened to 54 holes
TRINITY, Texas – Baylor men's golf was in 10th place when rain stopped the first round of the Big 12 Championship Monday at Whispering Pines Golf Club.
Round one will resume at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, with round two set to begin for the Bears at 11:22 a.m. The 72-hole format was also reduced to 54 holes, with the final 18 to be played Wednesday as originally scheduled.
Starting on the back nine, Baylor was 7-over as a team when the horn blew, with Drew Wrightson being the only BU golfer to make it through nine holes. Johnny Keefer made it through six holes and was leading the team at even par.
Mark Reppe was 1-over through seven holes with three bogeys around an eagle at the par-5 12th.
Zach Heffernan is at 3-over through eight holes, carding a pair of birdies and a pair of bogeys to sit at even-par through seven. But just before play was halted, the freshman carded a triple-bogey eight at the par-5 17th.
Drew Wrightson is also 3-over in a tie for 46th through nine holes. The freshman started with three-straight pars before three-straight bogeys at Nos. 13, 14 and 15. He was able to right the ship to finish the day strong with three-straight pars.
Luke Dossey made it through seven holes before play was halted with a score of 9-over.
Baylor will remain in the same pairings with Kansas on Tuesday.
