
MGOLF Wraps up Round One at the Fighting Illini

BU’s Bosco continues strong play to lead the Bears
OLYMPIA FIELDS, ILL. – Baylor men's golf finished 13th following round one of the Fighting Illini Invitational on Friday.
The Bears shot an 11-over 291 on a day where the stroke average was nearly three shots over par (72.63), and just three teams finished under par.
BU was led by junior Trey Bosco, who shot a 1-over 71 to tie for 23rd individually. Following a bogey on his third hole of the day at No. 12, Bosco reeled off birdies at Nos. 13, 15 and 2. The Austin native finished his inward half with bogeys on Nos. 3, 8 and 9 for a 2-over 37 to finish his round.
Johnny Keefer shot a 3-over 73 to finish round one in a tie for 43rd. Starting on the back nine, the senior played his first seven holes at even par, thanks to a birdie at No. 15, offsetting a bogey at No. 12. Three more bogeys at Nos. 17, 5 and 6 dropped him back to 3-over for the round.
Luke Dossey also finished at 3-over on the day, but started strong with a birdie on his second hole of the day at No. 11. After a bogey at No. 14, Dossey bounced back with a birdie at No. 15 to get back into red figures, but would finish his outward nine at even par. The senior opened his second nine with three birdies in the first four holes before finishing with five-straight pars to close the round.
Drew Wrightson opened with a bogey at No. 11 and a double bogey at No. 13 but responded with a birdie at No. 18, which played as the hardest hole on the course Friday. Wrightson finished with seven pars and two bogeys on his second nine to get in the clubhouse at 4-over.
Tyler Isenhart shot a 8-over 78 in the second round. After four bogeys and a double bogey on his opening nine, Isenhart closed with seven pars and two bogeys on his inward half.
No. 15 Stanford (-10) leads by one shot over host Illinois (-9) after one round. Cardinal junior Karl Vilips is tied with Illinois senior Adrien Dumont de Chassart for the individual lead at 5-under 65.
