WT: Kostenko, Thompson Advance to Semifinals at ITA Regionals

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Liubov Kostenko and Brooke Thompson posted a round of 16 win in doubles to advance to the semifinals of the ITA Texas Regionals, hosted by TCU at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
"Another great day with our effort and attitude," Baylor head coach Joey Scrivano said. "The ladies played free and loose today. It's exciting to see them enjoying competing through the ups and downs of a match. Pauli's enthusiasm & energy on the court is amazing. She's playing decisive tennis and hitting through her shots. It's fun to watch her play. Luba and Brooke have really connected as a team and enjoying themselves out there. I love watching their chemistry and how hard they compete."
Kostenko, a native of Ukraine, and Thompson, a native of Oklahoma City, Okla., posted an 8-7 (3) win over the duo from Texas, made up of Marlee Sein and Vivian Ovrootsky. The Baylor pair will face UIW's Lauren Fulgenzi and Brandelyn Fulgenzi in the semifinals with a berth in the finals on the line.
Paula Barañano advanced to the quarterfinals in singles and will face of with SMU's Hadley Doyle on Sunday at 8:30 a.m.
