
FB Hits Road to Queen City to Face Cincinnati

WACO, Texas -- Baylor football will return from an idle week to hit the road to face Big 12 Conference newcomer Cincinnati, with kickoff in the Queen City slated for 11 a.m. CT at Nippert Stadium.
The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+ with Shawn Kenny (play-by-play), Barret Brooks (analyst) and Tori Petry (sideline) on the call. The game will also be broadcast live on the Baylor Sports Media Network, with John Morris (play-by-play), J.J. Joe (analyst) and Ricky Thompson (sideline) voicing the action.
This will mark the first meeting between the two schools in UC's first season in the conference.
Baylor (2-4, 1-2 Big 12 Conference) will be looking for a second consecutive road win after a historic comeback win at UCF on Oct. 30 in Orlando. The Bears fell in their last game, vs. Texas Tech on Oct. 7, before the idle week. The Bears got 324 yards passing and a TD from quarterback Blake Shapen vs. Texas Tech, with Monaray Baldwin going for five catches for 126 yards and a score.
Cincinnati (2-4, 0-3 Big 12) is coming off a 30-10 loss to Iowa State on Saturday in Cincy.
SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
• The Bearcats come into the matchup with Baylor with a 2-4 mark and an 0-3 record in their first season in the Big 12 Conference. UC joined the Big 12 after time in the Big East (2005-13), Conference USA (1995-12) and the American Athletic Conference (2013-22).
• The Bearcats own wins over Eastern Kentucky and Pittsburgh to open the season but have lost four straight, including a matchup with Miami (Ohio), and league foes Oklahoma, BYU and Iowa State. UC will hit the road to face Oklahoma State next weekend, before returning home to host UCF on Nov. 4.
• On Saturday, UC - coming off an idle week - fell to Iowa State, 30-10, with the Cyclones erasing a 7-3 first-quarter hole to score 27 of the final 30 points of the game. UC was held to 214 yards of total offense, including 99 yards passing and 115 yards rushing, with ISU going for 364 yards of total offense and 241 through the air.
• In Big 12 play, UC is averaging 14.3 points per game, with 362.7 yards of total offense, including 196.7 through the air and 166 on the ground. Opponents are totaling 361.3 yards of total offense with 262.7 passing and 98.7 rushing. UC has thrown four TDs, with five interceptions and have not totaled a rushing TD in league play.
• QB Emory Jones has rushed for 352 yards and three TDs, and thrown for 1,322 yards with 11 TDs and eight interceptions. In league play, he has thrown for 587 yards with four TDs and five interceptions, and rushed for a team-leading 208 yards. Corey Kiner has rushed 87 times for 434 yards on the year, with two TDs. Xzavier Henderson leads the team with 30 catches and 414 yards and a score, while Braden Smith has 22 catches for 307 yards and three TDs. Defensively, Dorian Jones and Deshawn Pace have a team-leading 33 tackles, Byron Threats has two interceptions and Daniel Grzesiak leads the team with 3.5 sacks.
• Scott Satterfield is in his first season at UC after four seasons at Louisville, where he went 25-24, including a 7-5 mark in 2022. A native of Durham, N.C., Satterfield was the 2018 Sun Belt Conference Coach of the Year while leading Appalachian State from 2013-18, owning a 51-24 overall record, including a 38-10 mark in conference play that saw three straight titles and bowl wins. An App State grad, Satterfield previously coached with the Mountaineers from 1998-2008, before a season at Toledo and two seasons as the OC at FIU.
• Former Ole Miss DB Bryan Brown is the associate head coach and defensive coordinator and has worked with Satterfield since 2012, with part time roles prior to App State and Louisville at Ole Miss, Delta State and Rutgers. Brad Glenn is the offensive coordinator and joined the UC staff after three seasons as the OC at Georgia State. Glenn previously coached at Western Carolina and App State. Former UC DB Kerry Coombs is the special teams coordinator. Coombs spent the 2020 and 2021 seasons as the defensive coordinator at Ohio State, and also coached with OSU from 2012-17. Coombs also coached the secondary with the Tennessee Titans from 2018-19. He is in his second season at UC after previously coaching with the Bearcats from 2007-11, and was a 16-year head coach at powerhouse Cincinnati Colerain High School.
