THE RUNDOWN
WACO, Texas – Baylor soccer defeated UCF, 2-1, Sunday afternoon at the UCF Soccer and Track Complex.
The Bears got things started early in the first half as they were able to find a goal in the 13
th minute. With an assist from
Hannah Augustyn,
Salma Simonin headed in her second goal in as many games to give the Bears an early 1-0 lead.
Just under three minutes later, UCF capitalized with a goal of its own and knotted the game at 1-1.
BU ended the first half with the slight 7-6 shot advantage, with five different Bears taking shots.
Tyler Isgrig put two shots on frame in the first 10 minutes of the second half, but the UCF had both a goalkeeper and team save to keep the ball out of the net.
Baylor was able to capitalize off of a set piece in the 82
nd minute to put the Bears on top, 2-1. After the service from
Theresa McCullough,
Hallie Augustyn found the back of the net for her second time this season.
With just eight minutes left, the Baylor defense was able to hold UCF to just one shot, which goalkeeper
Ashlee Zirkel saved.

The Bears will return home to face Cincinnati on Thursday, Oct. 12, before heading to Fort Worth, Texas to face TCU on Sunday, Oct. 15.
