WACO, Texas – Isaiah Dunson (football), Oskar Brostrom Poulsen (men's tennis), Jackie Addy (women's cross country) and Sophia Keene (volleyball) have been selected as the Student-Athlete Center for Excellence (SACE) November Champions of the Month.

This award recognizes student-athletes who achieve their personal bests in the areas of academic achievement, athletic success, character formation and spiritual growth.

Each of these student-athletes was nominated by a SACE team member based upon their embodiment of each of the four pillars.

A junior from Tucker, Ga., who transferred from the University of Miami (Fla.), Dunson had four tackles as the opening-game starter at cornerback. Even though he was limited to three games because of a season-ending injury, "Isaiah has stepped it up in the classroom this semester," said Lauren Kirby, Assistant AD for Learning Support. "He has grown tremendously in his time here over the past year, and I am excited to see that continue in other areas."

An all-county selection at Tucker High School who was rated one of the top cornerback prospects nationally, the communications major said that his academics "have improved a lot since I have been here. I would like to thank Ms. Lauren for helping me be better academically."

In his first semester at Baylor as a transfer from Middle Tennessee State, Brostrom Poulsen participated in the Leadership Institute this fall "and showed constant engagement in the curriculum," said Le'Dashia Orndorff, Assistant Character Formation Coordinator. "He was always willing to give his perspective and share in front of the group. His positive attitude and ability to connect with other student-athletes was a joy to have over the course of the eight weeks."

A junior management major from Helsingor, Denmark, Oskar was a two-time All-C-USA first-team pick in doubles and earned second-team honors in singles last spring. "Being a student-athlete here at Baylor is an incredible honor," he said. "The level on the court and in the classroom is extremely high, and I do my best to reach the Baylor standards."

Addy, a senior from Atlanta, Ga., majoring in journalism, said "Coming to Baylor from the transfer portal and finding the best group of teammates, professor and staff, I'm experiencing the many opportunities Baylor has to offer. I'm thankful for everything Baylor has provided to me."

In addition to continuing to excel academically and being the Bears' lead runner at the NCAA regional, Jackie "was able to grow in her leadership abilities and be vulnerable with her fellow student-athletes" in the Leadership Institute, Orndorff said. "Jackie is also Baylor Athletics' social media intern and has been working hard to create engaging and fun content. We are so proud of the work she's doing."

A sophomore from The Woodlands, Texas, Keene "is undoubtedly having one of the best semesters of her academic career and is on track to topping her personal-best GPA," said Josh Young, Assistant AD for Academic Services. "The marketing major exceeded expectations several times in the classroom and is the quintessential student-athlete."

Keene has played all 28 matches this season and recorded 141 digs for the 23rd-ranked volleyball team, which is making its eighth-consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. "I am very grateful to be a student-athlete here at Baylor," she said. "Not only do we have a great coaching staff and team, but we have amazing professors who value relationships to help us as students succeed."
