Bears suffer first back-to-back losses of the season
LONG BEACH, Calif. – No. 20 Baylor softball dropped both ends of Thursday afternoon's doubleheader on day two of the Louisville Slugger Invitational, falling 2-0 to Boston University and then 2-1 to Long Beach State.Â
Â
The Bears, now 18-4 on the season, were held scoreless in game one for just the second time this season.Â
Â
THE RUNDOWN
After two scoreless innings in game one, Boston University plated a single run in the third and fourth innings to take the 2-0 lead.Â
Â
The Bears threatened in the second inning, but the real threat came in the bottom of the seventh when the Bears loaded the bases after a couple of hits and a walk before a groundout ended the Bears' threat.Â
Â
In game two, Long beach State took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second. Â
Â
The Bears had runners on in the first three innings, but were sat down in order in the next three.Â
Â
Baylor rallied in the top of the seventh, after Josie Bower was hit by a pitch and Sydney Collazos and Ana Watson singled to load the bases. McKenzie Wilson reached on a fielder's choice, which brought home a run, but a groundout ended the late inning rally short.Â
Â
HIGHLIGHTS
Kaci West was 3-for-3 at the plate in game one. Presleigh Pilon, McKenzie Wilson and Emily Hott also recorded hits in the game.
Â
Four different Bears recorded a hit in game two, with Wilson recording the Bears' only RBI of the day.Â
Â

Â
WHAT'S NEXT
The Bears are scheduled for another doubleheader Friday against Columbia and Loyola Marymount starting at 4 p.m. CT, with game two starting directly after game one. Due to incoming weather, the Bears' schedule on Friday may be altered. Â
