IRVING, Texas – Baylor Softball's Ana Watson was named the Big 12 Player of the Week, announced by the conference Tuesday morning.
 
This recognition marks the second player of the week award for the Bears this season, after Shaylon Govan was honored back on Feb. 28. 
 
Watson helped lift Baylor to a 4-1 week, including a conference series win over Texas Tech and two midweek wins over No. 25 Louisiana and ACU. The junior hit .438 on the week, blasting her first three home runs of the season, which were all multi-run shots. 
 
She picked up a league-leading 12 RBIs on the week, while producing a 1.063 slugging percentage. One of her three home runs on the week was a grand slam in game two against Texas Tech in the top of the seventh inning, lifting the Bears to the 16-11 victory. 
 
The native of Hewitt, Texas, started in all five games for BU and totaled seven hits on the week, walking twice and being hit by a pitch. 
 
Watson and the Bears are returning home to face top-ranked Oklahoma for a three-game conference series April 21-23.
