The Bears fell to the No. 2 national seed Texas A&M on Saturday
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Baylor women's tennis (17-14) saw its season come to an end in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday, falling 4-0 to the No. 2 Texas A&M Aggies (29-2).
"It was a great match today," head coach Joey Scrivano said. "We would have liked to squeak out the doubles point and some of these singles matches, but ultimately it just came down to a few points here and there. But that's tennis and we've made a lot of improvements this season and that's what it's all about for us."
Baylor jumped out in front in doubles action across all three courts, before the Aggies held on for a 6-4 win on No. 3 for an early edge. A 6-3 decision on court one gave A&M the point, despite Anita Sahdiieva and Isabella Harvison sitting at a 5-3 advantage on No. 2 against #35 Mia Kupres and Mary Stoiana.
A 6-3, 6-3 win on court four propelled the Aggies to a 2-0 advantage, meanwhile Paula Barañano and Isabella Harvison outlasted their A&M opponent in the opening frame, winning each of their tiebreakers to take their respective sets.
A&M used a 6-3, 6-4 victory on No. 5 to hold a 3-0 lead, before clinching the match on No. 1 with a 7-5, 6-3 win.
