Bears pick up AAC All-Freshman honoree from Wichita State
WACO, Texas – Baylor baseball head coach Mitch Thompson announced Saturday the addition of rising sophomore infielder Jack Little to the 2024 roster.
A transfer from Wichita State, Little hit .250 with seven doubles, one triple, three home runs and 25 RBIs across 46 games as the Shockers' primary third baseman, despite missing nearly a month with an early-season injury. He also added 10 stolen bases in 13 attempts and recorded a .929 fielding percentage.
Little earned All-Freshman Team status in the American Athletic Conference in his first year of collegiate baseball and crushed a game-tying grand slam in the ninth inning at UCF on May 18, one of WSU's most memorable moments of the 2023 campaign. He tallied 10 multi-hit and seven multi-RBI efforts, including a pair of three-hit games in back-to-back contests on April 23 and 26, and ended the season with knocks in six of his last eight games.
A product of Obra D. Tompkins High School in Katy, Texas, Little was a Second-Team All-State first baseman and hit .471 with a school-record 14 doubles in his senior season. He also added four triples, two homers, 42 RBIs and stole 25 bases en route to being unanimously named a First-Team All-District player.
Jack is the son of Charity and Mark Little, a former professional baseball player who had a four-year stint in the major leagues. He also has a sister, Ryan, who runs track at Texas A&M.
