Brent Ingram makes it “about everyone else”
By Jerry HillBaylor Bear Insider
Selected to head up Baylor's Athletics Communications department last year, Brent Ingram is not comfortable in the spotlight.
"I think the thing that I've enjoyed the most is how you just want it to be about everyone else," said David Kaye, Associate AD for External Affairs. "It's been so cool to watch you take over leading the communications team. I know it pains you to be the focus (of this award), but I can think of no one more deserving."
Winning the One Standard, One Accord award for doing your serviceable and personal best, Brent "truly cares about all of us individually, as people and as professionals," said Shelby Hild, Director of Communications.
"I know that you don't have to, but you're always willing to step in and step up when we need you the most," Hild said. "I've been so blessed to work for you here at Baylor, and I know that you're going to continue to do big things in the communications office."
In Ecclesiastes 9:10, it says, "Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might." Whether he is handling his responsibilities as the main contact for football, leading the staff or pitching in whenever and wherever needed, Brent does it with all his might.
"You've been such a blessing to all of us in Athletics Communications," said Jerry Hill, Director of Sports Journalism. "When I think of you, I think of somebody that is always willing to step up. You have one of the toughest assignments, being the main SID for football. That is a tough job by itself. But every time anyone needs help, you jump right in and do whatever you need to help them. Through the last year, I've seen you do that time and time again."
A native of Gainesville, Fla., Ingram graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2006 with a degree in communications. He has been in the industry for nearly 20 years, spending 12 years in Lexington, two at UT Arlington and four at UTSA before coming to Baylor in August 2022.
"Honestly, I don't think I could have picked anyone better to lead the communications team here at Baylor," Kaye said. "It's been really cool to watch your growth as a leader in your first year at Baylor, and I look forward to hopefully having you here with us for many years to come and many great things ahead."
Congrats, Brent, for winning the staff award for doing your serviceable and personal best. You deserve to be spotlighted, even if you hate it.
