Bears geared up for 12-meet slate before hosting 2024 Big 12 Championship in Waco
WACO, Texas – Baylor equestrian released its 2023-24 schedule on Monday, as announced by seventh-year head coach Casie Maxwell.
BU is set to host five meets this year and compete in seven meets outside of Waco, including six road contests and one neutral-site matchup.
The Bears will open the year on Sept. 29 against Texas A&M in College Station, before a three-meet homestand against Auburn (Oct. 6), Oklahoma State (Oct. 13) and Fresno State (Nov. 2). Baylor travels to TCU for a Nov. 10 matchup ahead of a trip to Dover, Del., to take on Delaware State and UT Martin to round out the fall on Nov. 17-18.
To begin the spring slate, BU welcomes Georgia to the Willis Family Equestrian Center on Jan. 27, then hits the road for OSU (Feb. 9), Fresno (Feb. 16) and UC Davis (Feb. 17). The Bears round out their 2023-24 campaign by hosting TCU on March 1.
Baylor is set to host this year's Big 12 Championship on March 29-30 at the Willis Family Equestrian Center in Waco. The NCEA National Championship returns to the World Equestrian Center in Ocala, Fla., for the third-consecutive season on April 18-20 to crown the 2023-24 champion.
Last year's NCEA Co-Flat Rider of the Year Dominika Silvestri and fellow fifth-year seniors Elsie Naruszewicz and Maddie Vorhies lead an experienced BUEQ squad into the new season, following a record-breaking campaign that saw the Bears earn 12 combined Rider of the Month honors from the Big 12 and NCEA. Jumping Seat senior Madison Mitchell joins Silvestri as returning All-Big 12 Flat honorees and NCEA All-Americans on the 2023-24 roster.
