Bears take Oklahoma for week-long tournament
TULSA, Okla. – Baylor men's tennis take its annual fall trip to Oklahoma for the 2023 ITA All-American Championships at the Case Tennis Center. Play begins on Saturday morning with the pre-qualifying draw and runs through Sunday, Oct. 8, when All-American Champions will be crowned in doubles and singles.
Qualifications for the pre-qualifying, qualifying and main draws were announced in early September by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Selections are made automatically by the national preseason rankings and each player's universal tennis rating.
Five Bears will be featured in the opening pre-qualifying rounds. Martin Breysach, Marko Miladinović, Luc Koenig, Ethan Muza, Justin Braverman and Christopher Frantzen take the court in the round of 256 for a chance to move into the qualifying bracket.
After two days of play, the top 16 players earn a spot in the qualifying draw that begins on Monday.
Power trio of Louis Bowden, Zsombor Velcz and Oskar Brostrom Poulsen begin play on Monday in the 128-player qualifying draw.
After another two days of competition, the 16 remaining players from the qualifiers earn their spots into the main draw that begins on Wednesday.
For the second-straight year, Tadeas Paroulek is the lone Bear with an automatic bid in the main draw from his preseason ranking. The senior will look to make a splash in the 64-person bracket that features 48 entries from rankings and 16 entries from the qualifying bracket.
Meanwhile in doubles, the third-ranked duo of Paroulek and Velcz await final seeding in the main draw, while Breysach and Brostrom Poulsen play through the qualifying draw for a shot to play in the All-American Championship main doubles bracket.
Cracked Racquets will carry commentated live streams of the tournament and court cameras are available through TrackTennis. Live scoring and a real-time updated bracket will be available on the ITA website.
