
SOC Falls in Big 12 Championship Quarterfinals Against Texas Tech, 2-1

THE RUNDOWN
KANSAS CITY – Baylor soccer fell against Texas Tech, 2-1, Saturday afternoon at CPKC Stadium in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Soccer Championship.
The Bears got off to a hot start against Texas Tech in the second round of the Big 12 Championship, scoring in the 5thminute to go up 1-0. After a pass from Theresa McCullough to Hannah Augustyn, Augustyn linked up with Tyler Isgrig who found the back of the net with a shot off of her left boot.
Texas Tech responded five minutes later with a goal of their own to knot the match, 1-1.
Hannah Augustyn forced the Red Raider goalkeeper into another save in the 12th minute but wasn't able to give Baylor the advantage.
Making five saves in the first half, Azul Alvarez stopped the Texas Tech attack from doing any more damage until the Red Raiders were able to capitalize in the 45th minute. After a corner kick, the Red Raiders shot a ball that barely eclipsed the goal line before being booted away by Kai Hayes, but the goal counted and TTU went up, 2-1.
There wasn't much going for the Bears in the second half; after taking three corners and shots by McCullough and Caroline Staubach, BU wasn't able to put a shot on frame until the 81st minute.
After an attempt by Isgrig in the 83rd minute, Baylor was awarded a corner kick but a header from Augustyn went just high of the crossbar.
The Bears couldn't find the equalizer in the final seven minutes and fell against the No. 2 seed, 2-1.
