TYLER, Texas – Baylor football redshirt junior quarterback Sawyer Robertson has been named a semifinalist for the 2024 Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, as announced Wednesday.

The award recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community and tenacity to persist as well as determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals.

Additionally, the nominee must have played football at and graduated from a Texas High School, and/or be currently playing at a Texas-based Division I four-year university.

Robertson has sparked an offensive resurgence for the Bears in 2024, as winners of five-straight contests. The product of Lubbock, Texas, has slung 22 TDs in his junior season, already ranking tied for sixth in Baylor single-season history. Robertson ranks as the Big 12's highest-rated QB in QBR and checks in at No. 6 in the country with an 83.0 rating.

For the year, Robertson has logged 2,316 yards passing and added 238 on the ground with four rushing scores after taking over the starting job in Week 3. He has twice been named to the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award honorable mention (Week 9, Week 12), after garnering the award's Player of the Week honors in Week 8 following a five-touchdown performance at Texas Tech.

Robertson is one of 16 semifinalists for the award, including one of 10 quarterbacks. An additional three running backs, two wide receivers and one tight end round out the list.

Five finalists for the award will be announced on December 17, as selected by broadcasters, commentators, journalists, fans and previous winners. The finalists will be brought to Tyler for The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Banquet scheduled for January 22, 2025, where the winner will be announced.

Historically, former Baylor quarterback Bryce Petty won the inaugural Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award in 2013, and most recently former running back Abram Smith was named a finalist for the honor in 2021.
