Game Recap: Softball |
LAWRENCE, Kan. – No. 13 Baylor Softball fell in the series finale against the Jayhawks, 1-0, Sunday afternoon at Arrocha Ballpark.

THE RUNDOWN
The Bears weren't able to get their offense going in the matchup, as they totaled six hits and left six on base.

Baylor was retired in order through the first three innings, while KU had at least one baserunner in each of the first three. The Jayhawks almost plated a run in the bottom of the third after three-straight singles, but a throw from Ashlyn Wachtendorf in center field caught the runner trying to take home for the third out.

Baylor's first runner of the game was Emily Hott after she singled in the fourth, followed by a single from Shaylon Govan that put two on with one out. Abi Flores then reached on a fielder's choice that got out the lead runner and kept Baylor off the board.

After retiring Kansas in order in the bottom of the fourth, Wachtendorf and Presleigh Pilon each singled in the fifth, but a hard line-out to second base ended the threat.

Kansas scored its lone run in the bottom of the sixth, loading the bases and then capitalizing on a bases-loaded two-out walk that put the Jayhawks up 1-0.

Wachtendorf singled for the second time in the top of the seventh, but that would be all for the Bears as they lost their third-straight to Kansas.

  • The Bears out-hit the Jayhawks 6-4
  • Four different bears recorded a hit
